Excerpts – Letters From An Older Lover

Literature, Love & Relationships by Sandra Au / November 16th, 2015

11 January 1996

“Count the time you have with your parents not in the days you spend with them a week or the birthdays celebrated together. Count it in the form of a timer – How many years do you have left with them? On a good chance, it’ll be 30, maybe 40 years? If not it’ll be 20 or even 10. Life is a countdown my dear, so cherish your parents.”

4 April 1996

“You carry that youth about you… No it’s not the alcohol. You’re very different for your age. And something about the way you looked today just made me do that. I apologise.”

28 October 1996

“I can’t suck the youth out of you. But you can suck it out of me. Haha, we always go back and forth with our rebuttals. Perhaps with you atop of me .”

17 December 1996

“Everything is relative, little one.”

2 September 1997

“We’re so quick to believe the worst of people.”

5 October 1997

“Make love to me, before I turn a married man.”

9 December 1998

“I’m sorry to hear that… I know our meetings are clandestine. Tell you what, keep my number. If there’s ever a day you need any career advice, study tips or someone to hear you out, let me know. Go kick ass little one.”
