When I was 12, I wasn’t worried about my PSLE results. Come what may, PSLE aggregate, life would go on. There were bigger, much more pressing issues in my life.
- Bird Poo
I kid you not. Birds are sometimes called the rodents of the air. Back in the day, it was easier to get pooped on a bird than to strike lottery. Nothing was more embarrassing then having some smelly green gump on your hair.
Things changed when Singapore began culling crows, and also the recent birth-control feed to pigeons. Soon, it might be easier to strike the lottery instead.
- BCG
“Oh, it’s like a fire ant bite!”
“And it leaves a huge scar!”
Talk about being scarred for life, literally. An ominous cloud of doom hung over every P6’s head as the day drew near for their BCG injection. We were promised by our seniors a searing pain that we would remember forever. Thank God, the exercise was halted right smack before it reached my school. To the batch of ’89 kids, you know what I mean. Half of you kena, the other half heng.

Friends Forever!
Written with a pen
Sealed with a kiss
If you are my friend,
Please answer this:
Are we friends or are we not?
You told me once, but I forgot..
So tell me now and tell me true,
So I can say , I am here for you.
Of all the friends I’ve ever met,
You’re the ones I won’t forget..
And if I die before you do,
I’ll go to Heaven
And wait for you.
Show your friends how much you care.
Send this to everyone you consider aFRIEND( copy and paste), including the one who sent it to you. If it comes back to you, then you’ll know you have a circle of friends.
Ok,Friend

- Getting my Neopets account hacked
Hypno Helmet (before it was called the H4000). Codestones. Bottled Fairies. The greatest horror would be to log in to your account with your inventory wiped out. You could have forgotten to log out after playing at a library, or someone figured you used your telephone number or crush’s name as your password.
Finders keepers, losers weepers.
- Girls
Who are they? Where did they come from? What do they want? I once accidentally, maybe not so accidentally, released a grasshopper on a girl. She cried so badly and the class monitress (female version of class monitor) wrote my name down on the blackboard. The teacher came in furious and reprimanded… the girl.
Teacher: “Why is your name on the board?”
Me: “I released an insect on the girl…”
Teacher: “Stop crying! When I was young I had to pick up earthworms with my bare hands! And you! Stop releasing insects!”
I was amused at my teacher’s reply but felt bad about the incident the entire night. I finally picked up the courage to apologise to the girl some time later.
In Secondary school.
With so much going on… PSLE? What’s that?
