Two girls,

Whispering into each other’s ears,

Nodding their heads.

Guffawing like no one’s around,

Letting their eyes talk.  

Eat, shop and drop.

Air of unanimity.

Two women,

Waiting for each other,

Heart smiles when their eyes meet,

Hugs for a minute,

Says, “Everything is going to be fine. You got this, too”.

Gently rubs back.

Heads for coffee.

A true friend is hard to find, hard to be. It requires a lifelong of commitment, honesty, love, care and admiration for each other.  It’s about finding beauty in your relationship even when things get awry. Having a best girlfriend is like a buddy who has seen you in your most glamourous and geeky look, someone who appreciates the tiniest of things you do just to show her how special she is. She’s your other half when it comes to shopping. She’s someone who compliments you when you’re shining like a star. She’s a friend who believes in honest critique and balances it out with generous praise. A book junkie who loves reading and shares the same sentiments when it comes to the characters, plot, setting and atmosphere. The two of you go to the extent of sharing your favourite string of sentences that made your heart all woozy or turned you into a reflective soul.

She may not be your identical twin but she shares a common ground of values and beliefs. She’s someone whose differences intrigues and motivates you.  She is so awesome that she rubs some of her awesomeness onto you too!  

She’s a firm believer in crafting her own path and knows that her successes are not dependent on your flaws or failures. This trait of hers is something you will admire for the rest of your life. You could chat with her for hours, laughing, crying, cracking jokes that you wish no one else hears! She’s your badass friend who sticks by your when you are at your most vulnerable self.

When you need someone to understand your struggles and lend you a shoulder to lean on, you can count on her, without a doubt.

You could discuss almost anything under the moon with her. And yes, she gets your family dynamics. Together, the two of you appreciate silence and seek your inner calm just by being silent around each other.

She’s someone with a beautiful heart and a big, bright smile. Maintaining a friendship of like this, requires heartwork. It is possible, I truly believe.
