A Letter To My Future Self
I.
How are you?
I wonder if you’re doing fine
Are you still chasing your dreams
With that fiery passion in your eyes?
I wonder if you’ve finally found a part of yourself
But if you haven’t…
Well, it’s okay
Take all the time you need to figure things out.
II.
Always remember
You weren’t made to break
You’ve survived a thousand nights with dimmed lights
And a mind full of monsters
You’ve been through worst days
With dark eyes and trembling hands
With tears and shortness of breath
I hope you’ve learnt to deal with your sadness
And fill up whatever emptiness you have
You’ll be alright
You’ll be alright
III.
Continue to keep the few people close to your heart
Open your doors for them
Tell them your stories
Listen to theirs
Ask them how they’re doing every now and then
The little things matter
They do.
And if you’ve fallen in love
I hope someone’s there to catch you.
IV.
Never forget that
All you need is love
And love is all you need
And empathy is always important.
Finally,
Live.
Don’t just exist.
Love, me.
P.S. I love you. Well, I’m learning to.
