As it begins, there is very little reason why tonight should be the same as the others. I lived the day well and toiled my body through its trials. It craves stillness in its desperation to recuperate and tonight seems like the best night to do it.

Step 3: Free your mind

I follow the steps and feel my body sinking into the embrace of the bed beneath me.
“It’s working,” I think and I slowly fade…

“It’s not working,” I tell myself as I open my eyes an hour later. How cruel of my mind to give me false hopes of slumber; mere mirages of rest.
I need to try again.
Step 1: Find a suitable position
Step 2: Keep still
Step 3: Free your mind
“Please, let me sleep.”

I get up to grab a glass of water. From experience, its better not to stay stuck on the bed if it’s futile. Better to get up and re-strategise.
Step 1: sleep with your back down
Step 2: be still
Step 3: follow your sleep muse
“I really hope this works.”
