Right smack in the middle of two, I have found my place. My big sister who lets me let go of my responsibilities and my younger brother who keeps me on my toes, at ALL times.
Siblings are awesome friends you have for life. They are your 2am buddies, your confidantes, your movie mates, your shopping buddies, your impromptu coffee kaki and the list keeps on growing!
They know you so well that it doesn’t take a long time for them to predict your thoughts and sometimes even the exact words which you can’t help but blurt out! Call them your quirky partners but truth be told, you could unabashedly imitate funny cartoons, movie lines or create your own mash-up songs knowing that they are simply loving every minute of your goofiness.
With that said, you can’t discount the hurt you go through when an occasional spat crops up, leaving your mind incomprehensible of anything at all.
Your siblings will most likely NOT shy away from offering you some real good honest critique you when you need it and shower you with generous praises when you most deserve it. They will push you to soar higher and higher when your engines are slowing, taking time to assure you that you are simply a beautiful gift to this world.
Having siblings has taught me how to be a more responsible person. It teaches me life lessons, such as compromising, building loving relationships based on trust, looking out for one another and most importantly, learning to have a heart big enough to forgive and embrace.
One doesn’t just happen to be close to their brother or sister. It takes time for this relationship to grow into a bond so priceless and intangible. For some of us, we enjoy this closeness from a young age whilst others, at a much later stage of their lives. You know what? It doesn’t matter! Nothing will change the fact that at the end of this life of yours, there will be there, gently cheering you on, wiping your tears when things don’t seem to take its right course, and smiling at your successes as you overcome your fears.
My siblings are my personal bundle of joy that add peace, love and warmth and to my life. Without them, I would be a little less of myself.
